Vietnam veteran Mike Boehm of Madison Wisconsin, will show a slide presentation, film and lead discussion of current peace and reconciliation projects in Vietnam. This program is free and open to the public. The acclaimed documentary "The Sound of the Violin in My Lai," produced for the 30th anniversary of the massacre, will also be shown as part of the program. Boehm has traveled to Vietnam a dozen times to help organize cultural exchanges, plus the building of medical clinics and schools to build peace and reconciliation between the two societies. Sponsored by the Mid-Missouri FOR and Columbia Friends Meeting. -- DEPLETED URANIUM SPEAKER: The Columbia Peace Coalition is bringing Doug Rokke, former head of the U.S. military's depleted uranium clean-up program and a Gulf War Syndrome disabled vet to Columbia on Tuesday, Nov.4. He will be speaking at 7:30 p.m. in Room 113 of the Arts and Science Building on the University of Missouri-Columbia campus. Joining him will be Joyce Riley, an Air Force captain during the first Gulf War and now an outspoken critic of the U.S. war on Iraq and the neglectful treatment of veterans debilitated by exposure to various harmful conditions during their term of duty in the Persian Gulf wars. -- ARMISTICE DAY FOR PEACE: We will be gathering outside the gates of Whiteman AFB from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 9. Carpool leaves the Peace Nook at noon. Speakers, music, street theater and more. Join in this regional demonstration to make clear our vision for a peaceful future.
